Chart Your Progress

Making it easy to be proud of yourself

Seeing yourself progress in real-time is one of the most amazing feelings ever.

It’s the reason that people fall in love with going to the gym - the satisfaction you get from picking up a higher weight or pushing yourself to do more reps than you ever thought was possible is unmatched.

That’s why I’m a strong believer in keeping track of your progress.

Sticking to the gym example, I frequently take progress pictures of my self and I also note down the amount of weight and reps I do every time.

This does two very important things.

One, it keeps me motivated when I see the numbers go up due to progressive exposure.

But more importantly, it allows me to document my experience as if it’s an experiment.

I get to really see how the minuscule changes in my daily habits add up to the whole picture.

When you measure the inputs and outputs, you can start the process of fine tuning the inputs to see how they affect the outputs.

This puts you in a powerful position because you can treat it as a trial and error experiment where you’re the subject.

In other words, it gives you all the control.

If I start eating healthier, chances are my outputs will show it in a few weeks when I look leaner and I’m able to put up higher weight.

Same thing on the other side.

Charting your progress also gives you immense excitement - something to look forward to.

Especially if you have friends you can share your victories with.

It just makes the process so much more enjoyable, rather than fixating on the end goal.

Remember, the best plan of action is the one you will actually follow through to the end.

Charging your progress is a neat little hack that’ll make you want to follow your plans as it makes it a bit more personal.

Try it out, and let me know!
